Quad experience of a lifetime! 

Gustav and I were in the privileged position to join Kiewiet and Maria Venter at the end of April 2008 for the 4 day Ramabanta / Semonkong “Roof of Africa” Route in Lesotho.  The trip started in Wepener at the Lord Fraser Guest House and continued the next day with sleep over facilities at Malealea Lodge, situated in Western Lesotho, and Semonkong Lodge that lies in the heart of Lesotho, nestling on the banks of the Maletsunyane River.

You are guaranteed to enjoy the world without fences, some of the most beautiful scenery while quenching your adventure thirst.  The route covers an area with wide biodiversity and spectacular natural beauty, a waterfall and snow on the mountains during winter months.

The fascination of the Basotho children accompanied by their horses and pony’s, often in isolated villages dressed in their tribal blankets won our hearts over by the spiritual ethos of their dancing, and rejoicing in sheer while passing and waving at us on our quads.  There is nothing like a warm welcome in an unknown place.

The tour is a fantastic way to spend time together, to realise again that we have much to be thankful for, to make new friends and overcome challenges. The experience, thrill and exhilaration of off-road driving, and the challenge of what lies ahead. You will experience the ride of a lifetime in and out of dust, through the mud, up and down steep slopes, riverbeds and rocky mountainsides with breathtaking views.

Everyone goes home after the 5th with great disappointment that the wonderful time has come to an end; the only difference to the day of arrival is that all of us now have a smile on our face with no words to describe this wonderful experienced trip in Lesotho and with definite future plans to return! This is what we will do again and again after our first trip with the wonderful and warm hearted hospitality of Kiewiet and Maria.
